Hiking, Harleys and Panic Attacks

So in the end, no letter was sent to school. Austin woke up the next morning and decided he didn't want the note after all (Dang it!!!). Oh well. He went to school with a really positive attitude the next day saying, "If they want to be my friend, they can come to me!". And within the next 2 days, the boys came to him! So all is well on the playground now...just in case you were wondering about our first grade drama!

This past weekend was fun! Saturday was spent hiking in the morning, followed by visiting a gold mine! Afterwards we went home to watch Football! The 49er game was Great!!!!!!! The Broncos game....not so great. It sucks to watch your team get slaughtered.

The hike was nice though and the mine tour was fun! The boys got to use their hiking packs for the first time and they were great! (not to mention, so cute on them!)

Sunday was church, then errands and then the park! I took the boys to a really great park while Matt stayed home and worked. After the park we hit the old fashioned candy store in old town. I hadn't taken the boys there before and they LOVED it! Of course, their candy choices aren't very original. Of all the old fashion, weird and different candy choices they could have made...they left with blow pops and gum! I could have gotten those things at 7-11~

On the way home from the park there was a guy with a broken down Harley at the bottom of our street, I stopped to ask him if he needed any tools....and now we have a broken down Harley in our garage!

The rest of our evening was spent.......pushing a heavy Harley uphill to our house, Matt and our new found friend Jimmy, working on it in the driveway, deciding the thing isn't going anywhere and fitting it in our garage (this guy is trusting to leave it here!). We then we all piled into the car and hit up In-N-Out....you get hungry pushing motorcycles uphill! (I actually didn't push, but I was still hungry!) Then we decided we would take Jimmy home, he lives half an hour away. So we had a little road trip to a tiny little mountain town where we deposited Jimmy.

Now the Harley sits in our garage until Jimmy can get someone to come pick it up...supposedly tomorrow.

I still can't get over how nice and trusting people are up here. I get it that the guy really had no other option than to leave his bike here...and maybe we are the crazy trusting ones for hosting an old, gruff biker dude to dinner and an evening drive, but still...I love this place!

Turns out our friend Jimmy started school two years ago after a life of bad decisions and recovery and is almost finished with his psych degree! You would never guess looking at the guy! He actually goes to my school, so looks like I made a friend...maybe I can get some free counseling!

The weather has been abnormally awesome here since we moved...I'd like to take credit for that by the way, and say that I brought the sunshine! But it looks like our luck is running out, it is supposed to start freezing tonight and the rain and snow are on their way...which makes me nervous. Last year Matt, the Kids and I took a drive up to Crestline and Running Springs in the snow and ice...and I was a freakin' wreck. I mean, I was in serious need of anxiety pills. At one point I was actually crying I was so scared. Of course, Matt thought this was hilarious and purposely slid back down a hill for fun....while I threatened to jump out of the car. (I know, we are highly functioning adults!)

Anyways, I know that the weather here is no where near what it is there, but I still get scared about it. I don't worry so much about driving in the snow, it's the ice that scares me. I actually googled how to drive on ice so I would be prepared! Like always, Google to the rescue! Now I'm ready!

  1. Don't tell Jimmy the panic-attack-threatening-to-jump-out-of truck story. You might spook him out of the profession. ;)

Glad google can assist you with your ice driving endeavors (haha!), but I'm pretty sure driving on ice is one of those things you learn through hands-on experience. Just don't take the crash course like I did.

    Adorable pics!
